TallywoodGH, the umbrella body for the Northern movie industry, has strongly condemned drug abuse and dissociated itself from any form of illegal drug-related activities following the circulation of disturbing videos on social media allegedly involving three actors in tramadol-related offenses.
In a press statement released on 24th December 2025 at the Cultural Centre, the executives of TallywoodGH, together with the Council of Elders, stated categorically that individuals involved in such illegal acts are acting purely in their personal capacity and do not represent the movie industry in any form. The leadership emphasized that such actions are neither sanctioned nor supported by TallywoodGH or any recognized body within the industry.
According to the statement, the core mandate of the movie industry remains to Educate, Entertain, and Inform society. In line with this vision, the industry highlighted several productions including Musah Superior, Drug Abuse, and the yet-to-be-premiered 120 as deliberate creative efforts aimed at educating the public on the dangers and consequences of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society.
TallywoodGH further stressed that it strongly frowns upon drug abuse, drug trafficking, and all forms of criminal activity, reaffirming its commitment to promoting positive values, responsible storytelling, and good moral standards through film. The leadership assured the public that appropriate steps would be taken in collaboration with relevant authorities and stakeholders, with disciplinary actions applied where necessary.
The industry concluded by offering an unreserved apology to the general public for any embarrassment, concern, or misunderstanding caused by the circulating videos, and reassured stakeholders of its continued commitment to professionalism, integrity, social responsibility, and positive role modeling within the creative space.
