Popular media personality, DJ Bat, has rendered an unqualified apology to broadcaster Ewurama Attoh following a viral clip from his recent appearance on HYPE TV Ghana’s podcast, where he questioned her inclusion on the Ghana Northern Music Awards (GNMA) Board.

In the viral video, DJ Bat had expressed doubt about Ewurama’s capability to serve effectively as a GNMA board member, suggesting that her selection might have been influenced by her background in voice-overs and event hosting. His remarks sparked a wave of criticism from music lovers and industry players who felt the comment was disrespectful and dismissive.

Reacting to the backlash, DJ Bat took to social media to issue a public apology, clarifying that his words were not intended to demean Ewurama or undermine her competence.

He wrote:

“I would like to render an unqualified apology to my sister Awurama and the music lovers, and by extension, the general public, for my comments during a podcast interview with HYPE TV GH. I never meant it that way. The point I was trying to make was that, most often, females are used for voice-overs during awards events, as seen in the first and second editions of the Northern Music Awards. As professional as I am, I think it’s only right to apologize if she finds my comments offensive, and I hope she will forgive me so we can all move on.”

He further acknowledged Is Hassan Dablee, HYPE MEDIA GH, and the Northern Ghana Music Awards for their continued efforts in promoting dialogue within the creative industry.

DJ Bat’s apology has since drawn mixed reactions, with some commending him for taking responsibility, while others believe the issue reflects a deeper need for respect and inclusivity within the northern entertainment space.
