The 6th Edition of the North East Music Awards (NEMA) witnessed a significant endorsement from the Walewale MP, Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama, who not only honored the invitation but delivered a powerful address urging organizers to expand the award scheme’s scope.
In his speech, Dr. Kabiru applauded the organizers for recognizing local talent, but emphasized that future editions of the awards should include other creative sectors such as film, traditional performances, cultural heritage, and the media.
“I encourage the team to broaden their vision and create space to celebrate our filmmakers, traditional dancers, media personalities, and cultural custodians,” he noted. According to him, the full potential of the North East Region’s creative sector can only be unlocked through inclusive recognition and support.
Dr. Kabiru’s presence and advocacy at the event has been widely praised as a show of his consistent commitment to youth development, and a clear signal that the creative arts matter in governance and policy-making.
