The Member of Parliament for the Walewale Constituency, Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama, has made history by becoming the first Ghanaian MP to commit ₵100,000 towards the development of the creative arts sector, specifically through the establishment of an ultra-modern recording studio in Walewale.

Unveiling the project during the 6th Edition of the North East Music Awards (NEMA), Dr. Kabiru launched the Dr. KB Creative Sector Support Initiative, emphasizing that this was a deliberate step to empower the youth, curb drug abuse and robbery, and foster peace through entertainment.

The equipment for the studio has already been procured and will be installed in the coming weeks. The goal is to unleash the creativity of the youth and help them see art as a tool for livelihood and personal transformation,” Dr. Kabiru stated. He added that beyond talent promotion, the studio aims to serve as a social intervention project by offering an alternative to crime and promoting peaceful coexistence in the North East Region.

This bold move marks a significant shift in how politics can be used to support non-traditional sectors like music and entertainment, and many have hailed Dr. Kabiru for setting a national precedent.
