Dr. Fitre, who recently declared his intention to contest the seat following the passing of the late MP, Hon. Alhaji Murtala Mohammed Ibrahim, has assured constituents of his readiness to continue the legacy of his political mentor while carving a path of his own for the growth and development of Tamale Central. He has since called on party members, traditional leaders, and constituents to rally behind him with prayers and support as the campaign ahead intensifies.

The Electoral Commission has scheduled the by-election for September 30, 2025, pending final confirmation by the Speaker of Parliament.
