Northern Ghanaian music heavyweight Fancy Gadam has clapped back at legendary highlife musician Alhaji Ahmed Adam over his recent comments on the stagnation of northern music. In a no-holds-barred response during an interview with G. Face on Majority Radio, Fancy Gadam dismissed Ahmed Adam’s claims as nothing more than “pure hatred and jealousy.” According to Fancy, it’s disheartening to hear such harsh words from “failed legends” who overlook the tireless efforts and dedication of today’s artists.

Fancy Gadam didn’t mince words as he accused these veteran musicians, particularly those from the highlife era, of holding grudges against the younger generation. He suggested that just as they were once enemies to the hip life pioneers, they now harbor the same animosity towards contemporary artists like himself. Despite their disdain, Fancy pointed out his achievements, including being followed by global stars like Davido, Patoranking, and Mr. Eazi on Instagram, as proof of his success and the growth of northern music.

Wrapping up his fiery retort, Fancy Gadam called on the old guard to show respect if they want to receive it in return. He made it clear that today’s artists are not just making music for the North but are carving out a presence on the global stage.
