Manager of Radio Tamale, Robicon, has shaken the entertainment space with one of the boldest claims yet about Northern Ghana’s most celebrated rap star, Maccasio. Speaking on the ‘Gbewaa Enter10ment Chat Show’ hosted by DJ Krouch, Robicon stripped the “69 King” of his much-acclaimed status, stating bluntly: “Maccasio is not bigger than TV3 Mentor, he can still take part of it.”
Robicon’s words cut deeply into the pride of Maccasio’s fanbase, the “69 Army,” many of whom hold him as one of the biggest exports from the North. According to him, the popularity and hype surrounding Maccasio in Tamale should not be mistaken for national musical weight. For Robicon, reality talent shows like TV3 Mentor continue to command more influence and legitimacy than the Northern rapper has built.
By equating Maccasio to the level of a reality show contestant, Robicon indirectly dismissed the artist’s stadium shows, sold-out events, and brand as insufficient to qualify as true national relevance. In his further submission, Rubicon recalls that even Wiyaala who is now touring abroad had to participate in MTN Icons at a time she had released about ten (10) albums already.
