Rising Ghanaian content creator, Wunnam, has opened up about the harsh stereotypes and struggles faced by female creators in the country, especially in Northern Ghana. Speaking on the HYPE TV Podcast with Is Hassan Dablee, the Tamale-based digital creator expressed her deep frustration over how society constantly misjudges their passion and hard work.

According to Wunnam, many Ghanaians – particularly in her hometown – perceive female content creators as “prostitutes” or women who sell themselves online, rather than recognizing the creativity and dedication behind their work. “Most Ghanaians see us, female content creators, as prostitutes who sell themselves,” she lamented. She admitted that these perceptions have deeply affected her morale and often tempt her to give up on the journey.

Wunnam Speaks On HYPE TV PODCAST

Despite the emotional toll and lack of support, Wunnam continues to push through. She revealed that she is currently a Level 300 student at the University for Development Studies (UDS), and also helps run her mother’s trendy wear business. What’s more remarkable is that she writes her own scripts, directs her shoots, and edits her videos all by herself – a true definition of self-reliance and determination.

Wunnam’s story highlights not only the strength and resilience of young female creatives in Ghana but also the urgent need for society to discard harmful stereotypes and embrace the hard work and talent that women like her bring to the digital space.
