The New Year CSR initiative, held on Constitution Day, saw over 300 inmates receive cooked meals and soft drinks, as the Foundation also renewed calls for prison reforms and humane custodial practices.

The Celebrities Charity Development Foundation (CeChaDev Foundation), in collaboration with Ghanaian-born, U.S.-based musician Tuba Zaks, has marked Ghana’s Constitution Day with a humanitarian donation to inmates of the Tamale Central Prison, providing 300 packs of cooked food and 17 packs of Biggo soft drinks as part of its New Year celebrations.
The donation exercise, which took place on Friday, 9th January 2025, is a sequel to a similar outreach undertaken in 2023, aimed at supporting inmates, uplifting their morale, and offering prayers for their successful rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Foundation and Tuba Zaks, the Executive Director of CeChaDev Foundation, Mr. Abdul-Latif Alhassan, said the initiative was meant to remind inmates that they are not forgotten and that society still believes in their ability to reform and contribute meaningfully to national development.

“Our prayer is that they come out better, reformed, and prepared to contribute their quota to the socio-economic advancement of Ghana,” he said.
Speaking to mynorthtoday.com after the presentation, Mr. Abdul-Latif used the occasion to appeal to government and relevant stakeholders to take a second look at custodial sentencing, particularly for minor offences. He advocated for community service sentencing as an alternative to help decongest prisons and promote restorative justice.
He also called for the renovation and modernization of prisons across the country, stressing that while incarceration serves as punishment and deterrence through the restriction of freedom and time, inmates should not be deprived of basic amenities and fundamental human rights.
Mr. Alhassan further extended warm New Year greetings from Tuba Zak, who is currently based in the United States, assuring the inmates of his continued prayers and commitment to humanitarian causes.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ghana Prisons Service, the Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) expressed appreciation to CeChaDev Foundation and Tuba Zak for their continued support, and encouraged other well-meaning individuals, corporate bodies, and organizations both home and abroad to emulate the gesture.

The leadership of the inmates also expressed profound gratitude, offering prayers and words of advice to the delegation, urging them to remain prayerful, law-abiding, and safe.
Also present at the event were a District Director of the NCCE, who offered prayers for the inmates, the wife of Tuba Zaks, the LPG’s 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for Tamale Central, the CEO of Figo Graphics and Laundry, as well as staff of the Celebrities Charity Development Foundation.
The initiative once again underscores CeChaDev Foundation’s commitment to humanitarian service, social inclusion, and advocacy for a more compassionate and reformed justice system.
