Northern Ghanaian radio personality, Afa Staph Mustapha, has blamed the collapse of the Northern Music Industry on what he describes as “fan-based media infiltration,” accusing diehard fans of Maccasio (69 Fans) and Fancy Gadam (Gadam Nation) of destroying the industry’s integrity from within.

Speaking candidly on Tolon Radio, Afa Staph stated that many of the industry’s current radio hosts and so-called pundits are not in the game to grow music but to push agenda for their favorite artists. He explained that most of these individuals entered the media space not out of passion or professionalism, but to serve the interest of the fanbase they support — a move he says has seriously damaged the credibility and structure of the industry.

“These are people who are supposed to be the backbone of the industry, yet they are busy fighting personal fan wars on air. If it’s not 69, then it’s Gadam Nation, and in the process, other talented artists are insulted or ignored altogether,” he emphasized.

Afa Staph concluded that until the media space is purged of bias and fan-driven agendas, the Northern Music Industry will continue to suffer setbacks, adding that constructive criticism and fair promotion are needed more than ever for the industry to rise again.
