Mr. Mohammed Awal, an aspirant for the Tamale Central parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has intensified his grassroots engagement as part of efforts to campaign for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the party’s presidential race towards the 2028 general elections.

As part of the campaign activities, Mr. Awal on fed about 1,200 NPP delegates and party executives in the Tamale Central Constituency, a move aimed at strengthening party unity and mobilising support for Dr. Bawumia’s bid to emerge as the NPP’s presidential candidate.

The exercise formed part of a wider constituency tour, during which Mr. Awal visited 14 out of the 18 electoral areas in Tamale Central. The areas covered included Dohinaa Yili, Salaamba, Tishigu, Changli, Zogbeli, Sabonjida, Warizhehi, Abaobo, among others.

During the tour, Mr. Awal interacted with party faithful, listened to their concerns, and reiterated his commitment to rebuilding and strengthening the party’s structures at the grassroots level. He also paid a courtesy call on councils of elders within the party who, according to him, had been sidelined for some time, describing their role as critical to the unity and progress of the NPP in the constituency.

Mr. Awal used the occasion to highlight the leadership qualities and track record of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, urging delegates to rally behind him in the upcoming internal party processes. He stressed that a united front would be essential for the party’s success in future elections.

Party members who interacted with Mr. Awal expressed appreciation for the engagement and called for sustained outreach and inclusiveness as the NPP prepares for its next phase of internal and national elections.
