In a surprising turn of events, DJ Mudasir, a radio presenter with Radio Bimbila 91.9MHz, has found himself on the receiving end of a suspension from the station’s management. His offense? Participating in an NDC Health Walk.
The issue came to light after a Facebook post by Jacob Kpebu, which was spotted by HYPE MEDIA GH. The post revealed that Mudasir had flown a drone to capture footage of the NDC Health Walk in Bimbila a few weeks ago. His mere presence at the event reportedly displeased his employers, leading to an immediate suspension.
HYPE MEDIA GH reached out to DJ Mudasir for confirmation, and he shared the following via WhatsApp with Is Hassan Dablee:
“I’m suspended from Radio Bimbila 91.9MHz because of a video I shot at the NDC Health Walk. Management claims I should have consulted them first since the station belongs to the NPP.”
In a voice note, DJ Mudasir further explained that he had been paid to cover the event for the NDC and had tried multiple times to convince his management that it was strictly a business deal. However, his explanations were met with disdain. According to Mudasir, the management bluntly stated that he had never promoted the NPP on the airwaves, choosing instead to criticize them. They questioned why an employee of an NPP-affiliated station would be seen on NDC platforms, deciding to suspend him until after the elections.
Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue, Mudasir says the station’s management has refused to reconsider his suspension, leaving him out in the cold over what he calls a simple business transaction. Watch a snippet of the NDC Health Walk in Bimbila that caused DJ Mudasir his job.
