A man (name withheld) has reportedly been beaten mercilessly for alleged theft inside Nayili Fong, a local area in Yendi this morning by a group of men.
The man is said to be recognised/suspected to be someone who stole a mobile phone some months ago and escaped.
On December 23, 2022. He was seen by the mobile owner in a social gathering. He gently called him out of the public domain to have a mind game conversation with him to see if he was really the thief.
Being on the process of interrogations, a friend of the phone owner joined the conversation. The suspect realised the pressure mounting on him was escalating. Thus he stood on his feed to escape.
According to the two friends ‘He was warned not to try running, else they will declare him as the thief. Unfortunately he could not withstand the pressure and took to his feet and they hoot declaring him as a thief.
The guy was caught by the youth and beaten thoroughly to an extent he begin to bleed through his mouth and nostrils (almost killed).
Elders within the community had run to his rescue, saved him, called and hand him over to the police service. Thus is currently in the police custody.
