The Board and Organizing Team of the Ghana Northern Music Awards (GNMA) have paid a courtesy call on Naa Gbewaa at the Gbewaa Palace as part of efforts to formally introduce the awards scheme, seek royal blessings, and strengthen ties between the creative industry and traditional authority.
As a symbol of respect and support, the GNMA delegation presented an amount of Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (₵5,000) to the Palace to support ongoing traditional and developmental activities.
Speaking during the visit, the team reaffirmed GNMA’s commitment to promoting excellence, professionalism, and positive cultural values within the music and entertainment space in Northern Ghana.
On behalf of Naa Gbewaa, the Palace Public Relations Officer delivered a strong and thought-provoking message to entertainers across Dagbon and beyond, emphasizing responsibility, purpose, and discipline in creative expression.
“To every entertainer in Dagbon, let it be known — the King is watching you. He listens to you each day. Never for a moment believe that your words drift unheard, or that your actions fade unseen.
He sees what unfolds on the glowing screens of television, hears what echoes through radios, and reads what flows endlessly across social media. Nothing escapes his gaze.
Therefore, work with purpose. Create with discipline. Carry your craft with professionalism, for the eyes of the King rest upon all that you do.
Entertainment has risen beyond its former boundaries. Even Imams — who once stood firmly against music — now borrow lines from thoughtful, meaningful songs to strengthen their sermons and awaken hearts.
This alone is proof: good music is powerful. Good music carries truth.
Let your focus be on that power. Let your words heal, inspire, and build — and turn away from insults, for greatness is not found in tearing others down.”
The message was received with appreciation by the GNMA team, who acknowledged the responsibility placed on creatives to use their platforms to inspire, educate, and positively influence society.
Members of the GNMA delegation present included Kawastone, Shaharan, Tizzle, the GNMA CEO, Sakora, Hameed, Rashid, among others.
The visit marks another step by the Ghana Northern Music Awards toward aligning the creative industry with cultural values, traditional leadership, and societal development.
