Tallywood GH has officially opened nominations for the 2024 edition of the prestigious Northern Movie Awards, an initiative designed to celebrate and uplift filmmakers in the northern part of Ghana. This year’s event comes with exciting updates, including the addition of three new categories specifically dedicated to Eastern Dagbon, bringing the total number of categories to 23. For the third consecutive year, the ultimate prize will be a brand-new saloon car, with several other top winners walking away with motorbikes and plaque honors.
Alongside the saloon car, this year’s awards offer unique rewards aimed at enhancing the craft of filmmakers in Northern Ghana. The Best Editor category winner will take home a powerful professional camera, while the Best Director of Photography (DOP) will be awarded a 6D camera, further motivating creatives to excel in producing high-quality visuals. These additions reflect Tallywood GH’s commitment to supporting talent and promoting high standards within the Northern movie industry.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Saeed, the CEO of the Northern Movie Awards and Vice President of Tallywood GH, emphasized that the awards scheme aims to foster and improve the quality of films produced in the region. The launch was graced by several notable figures, including Alhaji Ahmed Adam, President of Tallywood GH, Afa Saani Minister, Lawyer Gbaginli, and other industry veterans, who praised the initiative for its contribution to the growth of Northern Ghana’s film industry.
