Legendary Alhaji Ahmed Adam Mr. Razak, a renowned legend in the northern music industry, has expressed concerns about the industry’s lack of progress. In a recent interview on Sagani TV’s “On and On” show with host DJ Krouch, he stated that despite the efforts of a few artists, the industry has not yet made significant strides. According to Alhaji Ahmed Adam, only two artists are making a little headway, but even their music struggles to reach audiences beyond the northern region.
Alhaji Ahmed Adam lamented that northern music is rarely played in other parts of the country, particularly in Accra, unless a northerner is playing it themselves. He emphasized that for the industry to grow, its music needs to be consumed and appreciated by a broader audience, beyond just the northern community. If northern music is only being produced for local consumption, then it’s not truly growing, he argued.
Alhaji Ahmed Adam’s comments highlight the challenges facing the northern music industry in terms of visibility and recognition. His statement serves as a call to action for artists, producers, and industry stakeholders to work together to promote northern music and reach a wider audience. By doing so, they can help unlock the industry’s full potential and bring its unique sounds to the forefront of Ghanaian music.
