Iddrisu Mohammed Rafik, the owner of the Northern Music Awards, has issued a stern warning to the organizers of the upcoming Ghana Northern Music Awards, threatening to drag them to court if they proceed with the event without his consent.

In a social media post directed at popular blogger Is Hassan Dablee, Rafik wrote: “Is Hassan Dablee please let your people see this and get a name to their awards before we meet in Court.” He claims that the Northern Music Awards is a registered entity under his ownership, and therefore, any award scheme bearing a similar name would be an infringement on his intellectual property rights.

According to Rafik, the addition of the word “Ghana” does not make the new scheme distinct from his legally recognized brand, insisting that the organizers must rename their awards or face legal consequences. The statement has since sparked intense discussions across Northern Ghana’s entertainment circles, with many awaiting the next move from both parties involved.
