The 5th edition of the prestigious Northern Movies Awards took center stage at the GNAT Hall on Saturday, January 25, 2025, celebrating the exceptional talents in Northern Ghana’s film industry. The event, which brought together filmmakers, actors, and industry stakeholders, highlighted the remarkable works of the past year with an impressive list of winners.
Among the night’s biggest highlights was Papa Sango being crowned Overall Actor of the Year, beating strong contenders like Aborimaham and Samakuse to claim the top honor. His performance and dedication have undoubtedly made a lasting impression, solidifying his status as one of the region’s finest actors.
Other notable winners included Mariam (Katali) as Best Actress Lead Role and Salifu Sayibu as Best Actor Supporting Role, while Gadabsi won the Best Actress Supporting Role. The coveted Best Movie of the Year went to Nsuhini Din, while Zungo Lagri took home Best Story of the Year.
The comedy scene was also well-represented, with Anyebto emerging as Best Comedian and Kpansi Kpansi winning Best Comedy Movie of the Year. For technical categories, Amin Kulchirie’s exceptional work earned him Best DOP, while Abdul Basit Kulchirie was recognized as Best Movie Editor.
