Broadcast journalist and media personality, Suhuyini Shaharan, has made a strong appeal to event investors and promoters to consider Tamale as a viable destination for major concerts during the Christmas season.

Speaking on Joy Fm entertainment activities across Ghana, Suhuyini challenged the long-held perception that Northern Ghana, particularly Tamale, is unsuitable for Christmas events due to its assumed Islamic dominance. According to him, this misconception has unfairly limited investment opportunities in the region’s entertainment space.

He emphasized that Tamale and the Northern Region as a whole are home to a significant Christian population who actively celebrate Christmas and are eager to participate in large-scale entertainment events during the festive season. Suhuyini noted that beyond the Christian community, the region has a vibrant youth population and music-loving audience that consistently shows up for quality concerts and festivals.

“Investors should understand that Tamale is not excluded from Christmas celebrations,” he explained. “There is a strong Christian presence, and even beyond religion, people in the north love entertainment. A well-organised Christmas concert in Tamale will definitely yield positive returns.”

Suhuyini further highlighted Tamale’s growing urban status, improved hospitality industry, and expanding nightlife as added advantages for event promoters. He stressed that hosting big concerts in the city during Christmas would not only be profitable for investors but also help decentralise entertainment opportunities from the southern parts of the country.

He concluded by encouraging stakeholders in the music and events industry to rethink their strategies, explore Tamale during the festive season, and tap into what he described as an “untapped but ready market.”
