The Anbariya Sunni Community, through its Da’awah Committee, has announced a groundbreaking peace campaign under the theme “Peaceful Elections; A Collective Responsibility.” The event, scheduled for December 4, 2024, will take place at the Anbariya Main Campus in Nyanshagu, Tamale, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This initiative aims to foster unity, dialogue, and shared accountability in ensuring peaceful and credible elections in Ghana.
As the 2024 elections draw near, the stakes for maintaining peace have never been higher. The Anbariya Sunni Community recognizes this urgency and has positioned itself as a critical voice advocating for harmony. The peace campaign is designed to bring together various stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission, political parties, youth groups, security agencies, the judiciary, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). Faith-based groups such as the Tijania and Shia communities, the Christian Council, and the Peace Council will also play pivotal roles.
The half-day event will focus on fostering mutual respect, highlighting the shared responsibility of all Ghanaians to maintain a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the elections. Discussions are expected to cover critical topics such as political tolerance, conflict resolution, and the role of religious and traditional leaders in promoting peace. This collaborative approach underlines the commitment of Anbariya and its partners to prevent violence and ensure credible elections.
The Anbariya Peace Campaign serves as a beacon of hope, showcasing how collective efforts can build a sustainable culture of peace. All citizens, regardless of background or affiliation, are encouraged to join this campaign and contribute to a brighter, united future for Ghana. For inquiries, contact +233 (0) 26 183 4931.
