Indigenous Ghanaian musician and Griot Gabriel Agambila better known as Prince Akakire won big at the just ended Happy Man Bitters – Upper East Music Awards.

HMB-UEMA is initiated to celebrate upper east musicians and industry personalities and also to boost their careers and exposure. HMB-UEMA is a great opportunity to showcase and increase market share. HMB-UEMA takes place in December every year.

This year’s event, which happened to be the 4th edition was held on December 30, 2022, at the Gnat Hall in the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga.

In attendance were notable personalities and public figures in the likes of Dr. Emmanuel Bortey Berkeley, the President and founder of Charger Limited who are the producers of Happy Man Beverages and the headline sponsor for the awards scheme, TV3 Ghana Most Beautiful 2020 winner Naa Dede Botchwey among others.

Gabriel Agambila who through relentless hard work and consistency has over the years cemented his name as one of the top-notch musicians in the Traditional music fraternity bagged home two awards.

He again beat his contenders, the likes of Pandy – nera woo la avom, Guy One – yesanga bodoniya, Rap Naaba- pote ft abagna Gongo b, Ayuune Sulley – traditional song, Jacob Abagna go go – valom di ba, Prof Atamina – Mam dela Ateko, Aguaa Akoobono – tikutaaba tikutaaba, Stevoo Atambire – bayam giriki zolko to win the bragging rights for the “Traditional Song Of The Year” category. He won it with his song “Zorko Beats

About Gabriel Agambila;

Gabriela Akakire Agambila aka Prince Akakire was born in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region of Ghana. His musical talent budded from the Redemption Assemblies of God church in Bolgatanga where his entire family attended. He and his siblings (6 boys) were responsible for the few musical instruments the church used. They formed the Levites Band and played during several crusades, conferences and outreach programs. Prince Akakire was a leading member for the Black Culture Band and later formed the Exodus band.

Mr. Gabriel Agambila, aka Prince Akakire worked with the Centre for National Culture (CNC) Bolgatanga and started the Brass Band of the centre. He was also the first Musicians Union of Ghana ( Musiga) Chairman of the region and one of the Music Directors of the Fountain Gate Chapel in Bolga before relocating to US where he currently resides.

Prince Akakire is the leader of the Exodus band.
The bands latest single titled Fine Fine Baby was released on Aftown, Speak Up and all digital stores on 21st January 2022.
