Multiple award-winning Ghanaian songwriter and singer, Kofi Kinaata has said that he does not release songs with the mind of winning awards with it but rather he’s motivated by each season.

The Fante songwriter and artist spoke about his award at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Kinaata won the “Best Highlife Song” at the VGMA with his track titled, “Thy Grace Part 1”.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Kastle FM, Kofi Kinaata said, “

Today I want to state everything clear about this when I release songs I don’t think about winning an award at the VGMA,” he said during an interview on the Kastle Drive Show.

He remarked, “As for VGMA it’s not even in my mind that I’m doing this particular song around this time in order to win an award… no that’s not the case”.

Speaking about the timing of his song releases, the ‘Behind the Scenes’ hitmaker clarified on Cape Coast-based Kastle FM that winning an award at the VGMA is encouraging but it’s just a day’s event.

“As for the songs we release for the fans because they are the ones who listen to the songs but for VGMA it’s just organized in a day and after that, it’s gone,” he continued.

“VGMA is encouraging but when the fans get fulfilled then you become happy,” Kofi Kinaata told Foklex Media Award-winning Entertainment Program Host, Amansan Krakye.

“But aside from that I’m not sure anyone takes a plan to release their songs around a particular time in order to win an award”, he ended.
