The organizers of the maiden edition of the Northern Ghana Fashion Awards, AkwaabaGH.com Enterprise, in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority, Royal Motorcycles (the official sponsor), and nominees, paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Tolon Traditional Area, Naa Yab Tolon Naa, at his palace in Tolon on Monday, October 9, 2024.

The visit was centered around the theme: “The Role of the Fashion Industry in Promoting Cultural Diversity, Peace, and Unity; A Panacea for Poverty Alleviation and Peaceful Elections in 2024.”

Naa Yab Tolon Naa congratulated the organizers for their commendable initiative, particularly praising the CEO, Mr. Muftaw Iddrisu. He urged the youth to take inspiration from such projects, noting that they provide solutions to poverty and unemployment challenges.

Present at the meeting were the Northern Regional Manager of Royal Motors Ghana, popular comedian and actor Mr. Ibu GH, Dasa Northern Regional Chief Naa Bawa Ziblila, socialite and comedian MallamFotos, among others. Naa Yab Tolon Naa also assured the team of his unwavering support for their efforts.

In an interview, Mr. Muftaw Iddrisu, CEO of AkwaabaGH.com, emphasized the importance of peace and unity during the 2024 election year, encouraging the youth to stay united.

The Northern Ghana Fashion Awards activities include a health walk on Sunday, September 29, 2024, starting from Jubilee Park (Tamale Police) at 7:00 AM. This will be followed by a football gala between the youth wings of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kandaha and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) GbanaVilbuSHEI, leading up to the main awards night on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Gnat Hall in Tamale. The event will feature performances by Fad Lan, Mr. Ibu GH, MallamFotos, and Agbosh, with Gee Face the Trender as the official MC. Cultural performances by Simpa and the Dasa Cultural Troupe will also be showcased. Tickets are available for 30 cedis.

His Royal Majesty, Ndan Yaa-Naa Abubakari Mahama II, also commended the organizers and expressed his readiness to support any youth-driven development initiative aimed at alleviating poverty and fostering peace in the Dagbon Kingdom.
