“Afa Staph Mustapha, a popular radio presenter and known entertainment critic in Northern Ghana, has sparked controversy with his latest remarks on the state of the industry. Speaking on his show on Tolon Radio, Afa Staph boldly declared that the Northern Music Industry has become useless, and he pointed fingers at those he believes are responsible for the mess.

According to him, the industry has lost its credibility and integrity because individuals who are supposed to serve as gatekeepers and impartial media voices are now deeply entangled in fan-based rivalries. He lamented that people who identify as loyal supporters of either 69 Fans (Maccasio’s camp) or Gadam Nation (Fancy Gadam’s camp) have positioned themselves in influential media roles but are using their platforms to serve fan interests instead of the industry’s growth.

“These people are now hosting radio shows and using their microphones to promote only their favorites, while tagging other hardworking artists as wack without any factual or constructive basis,” he fumed. Afa Staph warned that such bias and unprofessionalism from industry players have eroded respect, unity, and progress in the music space.

His comment has since generated mixed reactions, with many agreeing that favoritism within the media is undermining the entire entertainment ecosystem in the North.
